on the western slopes of the great dividing range red gums surround this billabong - a branch off a river flowing away from the main stream that generally only holds water in the rainy season...the grass is bleached on a hazy summer day...cattle and sheep are cooling off around the billabong and will soon settle down chewing their cuds until the heat dissipates...it's a typical  summer day in the australian bush
